My learning curve is becoming steeper as I am faced with learning more about building a blog. Actually, I couldn’t do this without a great deal of help from our favorite techie, Coty. Thanks to him, I am transferring all of my posts into a new open source web creation tool called WordPress. I struggled to make my Squarespace blog user friendly for recipe searches and am hopeful that WordPress will allow me better functionality. In the meantime, my posts are being re-created and I will begin again with new ones!
Over the past week I have enjoyed using new fresh produce supplied by our CSA Farm, Bersee & Utz (www.locallygrowngoodness.com) We enjoyed the pea shoots immensely. These were not something I had ever tasted – or cooked with. They are tendrils of pea plant shoots with blossoms and leaves. They were really delicious in a salad with cucumbers, strawberries, little dollops of goat cheese and a balsamic vinegar and honey reduction. I found the recipe on none other than peashoots.com (U.K.). I recommend trying to find them at a local market!
We have also enjoyed swiss chard, arugula, carrots, turnips, beets and beet greens and lots of radishes. These are also vegetables that I have little experience with so my learning curve for preparing them has been great and a fun challenge. We tried a roasted beet and sauteed beet greens and chard combination with chewy cavatelli. I loosely followed a Martha Stewart recipe that is flavored with rosemary and beautiful baked goat cheese rounds. I used a fair amount of chicken broth to make more sauce but it was delicious. On Father’s Day, the father in our house made his own smoked salmon that was perfect. We enjoyed it warm for dinner and later in the week in salmon pasta (recipe on this blog from earlier this year). We are enjoying Summer and fresh, vibrant foods and hope you can be patient while I learn more about this new tool called WordPress…
